Core concepts

Utilities

Artist includes a small, intentional utility layer for common presentation choices. It is not a general-purpose atomic CSS system.

Text and type

ClassesUse
text-left, text-center, text-rightText alignment, independent of layout alignment.
has-text-weight-bold, has-text-weight-normal, is-italicSmall typographic adjustments.
is-size-1 … is-size-8Explicit size only; does not change semantic meaning.
like-h1 … like-h6Heading presentation on the correct semantic heading level.
measure-sm, measure-md, measure-lgReadable maximum line lengths.
lede, meta, eyebrowNamed content roles.

Color

Use is-primary, is-tertiary, is-link, is-info, is-success, is-warning, or is-danger only on components that document role support. Text and background helpers are deliberately explicit:

has-text-primary has-background-primary
has-text-tertiary has-background-tertiary
has-text-info has-background-info
has-text-success has-background-success
has-text-warning has-background-warning
has-text-danger has-background-danger
has-text-muted has-text-muted-light

Shape, surface, and sizing modifiers

Names such as is-rounded, has-shadow, is-light, is-outlined, is-small, and is-large are component modifiers, not universal utilities. Their meaning belongs to the component page that documents them.

Agent rule: if a class is not listed on the relevant component page or this page, do not infer it from naming symmetry. Prefer an existing component contract over invented custom CSS.

Deliberate omissions

There is no numeric margin/padding utility scale, arbitrary width syntax, responsive class suffix system, or universal color inheritance. Use layout components and public tokens for those responsibilities. Site-specific art direction belongs in the applied stylesheet.
